I’ve had Billy Madison’s “Back to School” song stuck in my head all morning, but instead of going back to school today, I’m back at work after an epic vacation that I didn’t want to ever end. Alas, such is life. And when coming home from vacation means returning to the most expensive city on the planet, one must drag herself to work, even if it’s the last thing she wants to do. Gotta make that money!
I’ll go into more detail on my Canadian adventure a bit later, but for now, let’s just say it involved a few too many Tim Bits (donut holes) from Tim Horton’s and more wine than one of Oprah’s book clubs. Indulgent? Yes, indulgent would be the word. While I loved every minute (and Tim Bit) of it, I am more than ready to return to the land of healthy living (and my own pillow). It’s time for a detox.
For the next two weeks, I’m planning to limit my sugar and alcohol intake and up the greens and H2O. I think those are pretty reasonable goals.
Last night’s dinner was a good kickoff to my detox: grilled chicken drumsticks with roasted potatoes, and a smokey eggplant dip with homemade pita chips as an appetizer. It was delicious, hearty, and exactly what I was craving after so much junk.
What do you do to get back on track after a week or two of less than healthy living? Let me know in the comments!
