WIAW #23: Hanukkah Presents & An At-Home Workout

Good morning!

I hope your Wednesday is going well so far. We’re just 15 days away from the start of the new year, but it feels like there’s still a lot to do before we officially turn the page on 2014.

I’m guessing a lot of you are busy this week baking cookies, wrapping presents, hitting up holiday parties, and fitting in a few last workouts for the year. I am doing all of the above!

Now, for your regularly scheduled programming: What I Ate Wednesday, the weekly post where I share a full day of eating: meals, snacks, and everything in between (for better or for worse). The point of these posts is to share a look into my daily eating routine, perhaps provide some food inspiration for those in need, and to show that despite having the best intentions, nobody’s perfect!

8:15am – Plain greek yogurt with chia seeds and honey + hard boiled egg

I was excited to take my third spin class as I rushed out the door yesterday morning, only to find that LA Fitness was closed due to a power outage. On the drive home, I came up with Plan B: an At-Home Circuit Workout.

3:00pm – Grapefruit. And no, I don’t eat grapefruits the “grapefruit” way with a grapefruit knife/spoon. I peel a grapefruit like an orange, but then I take it one step further and peel each individual segment. I agree that it’s pretty weird, and a lot of additional effort, but trust me it’s worth it. You’ll never go back.

4:30pm – Chocolate covered raisins and raw almonds

6:30pm – Roasted brussels sprouts w/ chicken sausage & goat cheese. Not the most photogenic dish, but certainly delicious. I went back for seconds.

9:00pm – And I couldn’t help snack on a few more chocolate covered raisins while coloring studying.

Last night marked the first night of Hanukkah, and Andrew and I had our menorah and candle #1 ready to go.

Aaaand I got to open a Hanukkah present from the Kevins!

A six color pen! How thoughtful and appropriate. I’ll definitely get some use out of it with all my NASM studying. Thanks Kevs!

    1. Agreed! It’s clearly the best way to eat grapefruit. And good luck with the workout, I know you can do it! (No one needs to know how many breaks you take) 😉
