This week flew by for me. Anyone else? Well, I’m glad it did because I am ready for the weekend. And as soon as I hit publish on this post, I’m off to pick up my dad from the airport! He’s in town on business for just a couple days, but when he leaves he’s taking my car with him. And that is why my car gets Top Spot in this week’s edition of…
Friday #Favorites 2/20/15
My car. Or just having a car in general. Today, I say goodbye to my car for good, with mixed emotions. For a long time, Andrew and I have said we could easily survive with just one car. So when it came time to decide what to do with my car once the lease ended, it was a pretty easy decision not to renew it.
Now that the time has come to officially hand the keys over to my dad (who generously offered to drive it back up to the Bay Area, where it came from), I’m a little… sad? nervous? scared? I keep thinking I’m going to think of something really important I need it for as soon as it’s gone. But I guess that’s what Uber is for. The furthest location I could ever possibly need to take an Uber to get to is going to cost a fraction of my car payment.
This new Corinna Striped Dolman Top from my latest Stitch Fix delivery. It couldn’t match our couch any more perfectly.
I’m still deciding on some of the other items, but this one is definitely a keeper. I already cut the tags off!
Me, in my new top, taking my car for one last wash. Meta.
I’m working on a full review of my latest fix to share with you guys next week. My first impression is that this is going to be a very successful fix. I can tell that my stylist really listened to my feedback from last time, as well as the notes I provided when I scheduled this one. You can see some of my reviews of past fixes here and here.
Trader Joe’s French Liquid Soap. My single friends (and maybe some of the married ones, too) are definitely going to give me a hard time about loving hand soap, but I’ll own up to this one.
It smells sooo good. In my mind, Orange Blossom Honey is a really risky soap flavor, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I love it.
While I’m at it, I just want to put this out there as something that I’m NOT loving, flavor-wise: Dawn Eucalyptus Orchid dish soap. Eucalyptus Orchid sounds amazing, but it’s just… ok.
Speaking of orchids… This neon yellow orchid that Andrew gave me for Valentine’s Day sits on my desk where I get to admire it all day long. I LOVE orchids.
And a second bud just opened up! Yay Friday.
HeadSpace, a meditation app I recently downloaded. I don’t know if many of you are meditators, but I’ve been trying to start a meditation habit for a while now, and so far HeadSpace has been really helpful.
Whenever I’ve tried to meditate in the past, I’ve had a really hard time getting away from all of my jumbling thoughts. HeadSpace offers 10-minute guided meditations which are awesome (guided = much easier than trying to force an empty mind, and 10-minute = very doable, time-wise). For anyone who’s even a little curious about meditation, HeadSpace does a good job of making it an accessible practice.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts. I shared a recipe for these little crunchy protein nuggets earlier this week, and I’m actually giving away a full bag to a lucky reader.
All you have to do is enter, and trust me when I say the odds of winning are VERY high. 🙂 The giveaway closes Monday (2/23) at midnight PST. Go enter!
Sugarfish Sushi. The best sushi in LA.
My mom is admittedly not the biggest fan of sushi, so while we have my dad in town on his own, we thought we’d give him the best LA sushi experience we could think of. Yes, this is a favorite that’s still in the future. It’s never too soon to start thinking about dinner.
That’s it for my favorites this week, but I’d love to hear what you guys are loving this fine Friday, below in the comments.
. . . . . .
Ok, I’ve got to run. I have an airport to get to and a dad to retrieve! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
As always, if you need more Friday Favorites, you can check them out over on Heather’s new site.
