Friday Favorites: Green Is Good

Good morning and Happy Friday to all!

It’s “Water All the Plants Day” over here. With this heat, the outside crowd needs a little extra attention, but you can’t neglect the inside crew, either.

Wouldn’t want to forget about my Mother-In-Law’s Tongue

Or the shower fern…

Yes, I see you, wall crawler. Don’t worry, I got you.

Was it just me or was this week super bizarre, weather-wise? I started the week off all bundled up with a sore throat, and today it’s 88 degrees and too hot to go for a run. Huh?

Don’t worry, I’m not complaining about the sun. I know what’s going on over on the east coast, and I don’t want to make any enemies. Let’s keep things on a positive note, and talk about Friday Favorites.  On Fridays, I typically share some of my favorite meals, workouts, links from around the web, cats and anything else that stood out or made me smile during the week. Feel free to add to my list with some of your favorites in the comments below!

Friday #Favorites 2/13/15

Recipes for chocolate, heart-shaped, or pink baked goods. This has been a brutal week to be on a cleanse. There are amazing recipes everywhere! I have saved and pinned more brownies, banana breads, lava cakes, and cake pops this week than I have in the entire last year. Don’t be surprised if you see a few of the following pop up on the blog later this month:

Dark Chocolate Chip Raspberry Banana Bread [Sally’s Baking Addiction]
Chocolate Chunk Nut Butter Blondies [My New Roots]
Carrot Cake Muffins w/ Cream Cheese Glaze [Ambitious Kitchen]
Strawberry Crumb Bars [The Baker Upstairs] Or I could just make jam bars…

Cat pot. I would like this please.

Exploding Kittens. Do you guys know about this card game? It’s still on Kickstarter, with 6 days to go, but they’ve already raised over $6M. The video totally cracks me up, and actually makes the game look pretty fun. Then again, I am a game nerd.

Very important news bulletin about cats. So… I might have gone off the deep end. I made a YouTube channel, for fun, and of course had to make a tester waffle video using whatever random stuff I had lying around the house.

I wish I could say I was sorry (or that this would be the last one).

Tiny cooking.  Because tiny things!

Lock Ness Monster Ladle. A genius idea really, to put feet on a soup ladle so it can stand upright. “Should we make it a cute lock ness monster shape, too?” “Why, yes, of course we should.” So smart.

Smoothies. Considering that roughly 66% of my meals this week have been smoothies, I’ve had many chances to experiment with odd ingredients. A few hits, a lot of misses. I’ve learned that the best looking smoothies do not always turn out to be the best tasting smoothies. And vice versa.

For example, this smoothie tasted amazing! But looked a little… mysterious.

Ingredients: banana, frozen blueberries, protein powder, macro greens, spinach, almond butter, water, love.

Bacon roses. This chick (of Our Best Bites) knows what’s up, and if she’s married, her husband is one lucky man. If you’re looking for something romantic to whip up in the kitchen this Valentine’s Day, but don’t have the baking gene, this is the project for you.

Ok, the sooner we wrap this up, the sooner we can start agonizing over the minutes that remain in this day, separating us from the weekend. And it’s a LONG weekend, at that. Fabulous.

Question: What’re you doing to take advantage of the upcoming long weekend? Anything fun planned?

And as always, feel free to check out what others are loving this Friday over on Heather’s new site!
