Good morning, it’s Friday, omgI’msoglad.
This has been a week, ammiright?! I’m ready to close the books on this week and get the weekend started. We’ve got some fun things planned, specifically a multi-couple game night on Saturday that Andrew and I are going to dominate, and I don’t know what yet, but I’m going to be doing some baking on Sunday. I’ve had these recipe tabs open all week: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Thoughts?
Speaking of tabs that I’ve had open all week… It’s time for Friday #Favorites! Each week, I like to highlight some of the funny, interesting, unusual, or otherwise noteworthy things I’ve come across throughout the week that I think deserve a second look. Please feel free to add to my list in the comments below!
Top billing goes to the toy chest Andrew built. I’m so proud of him, and it’s such a beautiful piece of furniture. He’ll be the first to tell you that he had some bumps along the way, but he learned from each one and has yet to make the same mistake twice. That’s impressive!
Because I feel like bragging about him a little more, I’ll have you know that Andrew also built our entertainment unit, coffee table, shoe rack, pull-out desk, garden cabinet, and Christmas tree stand. And he was commissioned to build a bright red makeup table for a friend. Chyeah. #hottiewithahobbie
Andrew builds most of his projects on our patio, so now that the toy chest is done, it’s nice to have a clear view of all the plants again.
When did the aloe plant explode?
We successfully brought these guys back from the dead and I’m so happy. They were part of a little succulent centerpiece at the NCTA show last year, but the dirt was covered in a layer of glue, meaning the arrangement wasn’t meant to survive more than a week. That was unacceptable to me, so Andrew and I brought it home, scraped off the glue, and gave it a ton of TLC.
Stitch Fix finds. If you stopped by on Monday, then you already know I kept a couple great pieces from my most recent fix. Spring fashion is starting to pop up everywhere, so the delivery from Stitch Fix (<–referral link) came at the perfect time.
That’s not to say I haven’t been eying a few pieces of spring workout gear lately…
…You know, to get me through that brutal transition from winter to spring that takes place in LA.
Shoutout to this cutie for making my afternoon walks a little cuter.
That is the “You’re seriously taking another picture of me?” look.
Yes, Caswell. Yes, I am.
Flat whites with coconut milk at Starbucks. I’m officially a fan. After conducting a mini experiment, I determined that I like coconut milk in a flat white, but not in a latte. I’m not a big fan of coconut, and in a latte (where the ratio of milk to coffee is higher), you can really taste the coconut.
Toolery. Tools + Jewelry = Toolery. Not having enough hobbies is something that Andrew and I have never been accused of. Between hiking, baking, woodworking, water-coloring, gardening, biking, puzzling, and t-shirt making, the two of us are never bored. Well, I can now add “jewelry making” to my list of hobbies.
I’ve been playing around with some nuts and bolts and things from Andrew’s toolbox, along with suede and cotton cording, to see what fun designs I can come up with. I just opened an Etsy shop (because I take my hobbies very seriously), so if you’re interested or even just curious, you can check it out here.
And finally, some randoms from around the web:
- This Adults On Board sticker [Etsy] made me laugh. “We want to live too”. True that.
- Regulate performed by Warren and Kenny G on Jimmy Kimmel. Not only are Warren G and Kenny G a dynamic duo of epic proportions, but their performance is spot on. Does Kenny G just not age?
- Uptown Funk covered by Alex Boye’ & The Dancing Grannies. I love the original song and video (a lot), but I would argue that this is almost better. And a fun fact for any Frozen fans out there, this is the same Alex Boye’ from this Let It Go cover.
- Smart Rope by Joen Choe [Kickstarter]. This is so cool! I want one.
- Have you guys heard the new Alabama Shakes song, Don’t Wanna Fight? It’s pretty good!
Enjoy the rest of your Friday and have a wonderful weekend. Is it Happy Hour yet?
As always, you can see what others are loving this Friday on Heather’s new site, Life in Leggings.
