How is everyone’s day going so far? Things are off to a productive start around here: I’ve already completed a full-body circuit workout and prepped tonight’s dinner. That’s all well and good, but what it really means is that I have no excuses left to keep me from spending the rest of the day studying.
NASM-CPT Status Update
With my NASM personal trainer certification exam coming up next month, I’m now in the final phase of exam prep. The first phase, which I described in this post, consisted of reading, watching online videos, and making flashcards for each chapter, one at a time, until I had completed 6 chapters, at which point I would spend a day reviewing all of the material from those 6 before moving on.
It took me approximately 4 months to get through all 20 chapters, which may seem a little drawn out, but I’m still right on schedule. I intentionally left 2 months at the end to review everything (and relearn anything that didn’t quite stick the first time).
So that’s where I’m at. I take practice exams daily, which help highlight areas of weakness. My scores aren’t terrible, but there’s room for improvement. If any personal trainers out there have any study tips for me, I’d love to hear them in the comments below.
Before I go, did anyone watch the Bachelor last night? What do you guys think about Chris’s decision? I thought it was pretty predictable and anticlimactic. For me, the first weeks are the best part of the season, and once the bachelor narrows it down to just two or three girls, I start to remember how bizarre the show’s concept is and lose interest.
