Kevin knows what I’m talkin’ about.
I don’t want to waste any time, so let’s jump right in to this week’s Friday Favorites. Friday Favorites is a weekly post where I highlight some of the things (music, food, workouts, cats, clothes, beverages, cats…) that made this week great. You can play along if you’d like, by adding your own favorites in the comments. Or you can check out some stranger faves over on Heather’s blog!
Bulletproof Coffee is back in stock!
…In our house, that is. You guys saw this coming though, right? If you’re wondering why the box is so big, it’s because I buy a combo kit that includes coffee beans as well as MCT oil (which is called XCT oil on the site, just fyi). Here’s an article explaining what MCT oil is, in case you’re curious.
New Merrell ‘All Out Fuse’ Trail Running Shoes
They’ve been on two runs so far, and I have nothing but good things to say about these runners. I like the way they lace up securely and I feel like I’m finally wearing the right size running shoe, too, which is hilarious because if you’ll recall, they’re two different sizes.
A lot of people have two slightly differently sized feet. Why isn’t there a way to (purposefully) buy two differently sized shoes?
Enchanted Forest Adult Coloring Book
Ok you guys, remember when I mentioned liking this coloring book that I had seen on Buzzfeed? I now OWN IT (thank you, Andrew!). All week, I’ve been taking study breaks to color, and I’ve been coloring up a storm each night during The Daily Show, too. I plan to color every single inch of every single page, even if it takes me my entire life.
I’m 28. It’s totally fine. [Here’s a time-lapse video of the artist creating a drawing from scratch set to Radiohead. It’s awesome.]
Trader Joe’s Tempting Trail Mix
Somehow, Andrew let me slip this one past him into our shopping cart at TJ’s last week. He knows very well that I cannot be trusted with this stuff. Between the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and dried cherries, it’s more treat than trail mix, but I love it. I also took this picture on Tuesday and it’s long gone now.
Christine Salus’ YouTube Channel
Christine’s channel is full of workouts that are intense, but great for several reasons. She does the full workout with you on video, so you have a constant reference for form and posture. You also get a true sense of how long the workout is going to take. And even though Christine has a really tight bod, she’s still pretty real: she sweats like crazy and even grunts from time to time. (I love Blogilates, but how is she so peppy??) The workout above almost killed me, though.
The return of Mad Men, and the return of Mad Style posts
After every episode of Mad Men, for as long as I can remember (probably from the very beginning), Tom + Lorenzo have taken a break from their usual sassy fashion critiques to analyze the costuming of that week’s episode. And it’s not just fluff, people; they dive deep. It’s incredible what you can discern about the show’s story line based on wardrobe and color palette alone. Janie Bryant, Mad Men‘s costuming designer, is a pro.
Oya, and I’m pretty pumped to have Mad Men back, too.
Last, but not least, some notable links from around the web:
Danny Masterson Tells Us About His Life In The Church Of Scientology [Paper] Danny Masterson (of That 70’s Show) gives an interesting and mostly-believable account of what it was like to grow up in Scientology.
VICE Meets the Former Senior Executive of the Church of Scientology [YouTube] Another interview with Marty Rathbun. I can’t seem to get enough of this crazy.
How to Clean Your Engagement Ring at Home – In Less Than a Minute [Pop Sugar] This is handy.
The Easiest and Most Delicious Way to Lose a Few Pounds [Pop Sugar] This article perfectly sums up the way I try to eat. It’s also very in line with the Foodist principles, which I fully endorse, as well.
27 Books You Can Borrow For Free From the Kindle Lending Library (prime members only, unfortunately) [Modern Mrs. Darcy] Yessss. I’ve had such a hard time finding kindle books that are actually eligible for rental. This list has some great options, too. The Gift of Fear has been on my list for a while, and for all you preggos out there, What to Expect When You’re Expecting is even on the list. Also, Harry Potter…
Uber’s Breathalyzer Kiosk Gets You A Ride Home If You’re Drunk [Engadget] Brilliant.
I hope you all have fabulous weekends!
Random question: Have any of you guys ever stuck a q-tip in (your ear) too far? It really hurts!
UPDATE: Turns out Andrew’s been withholding important ear cleaning information from me! Apparently, it’s actually better not to swab at all. Wow. Who knew?
