I don’t know what it is about busy weeks, but they seem to fly by more quickly than usual. I’ve really enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with my family this week, but I’m also looking forward to a weekend with some girlfriends I don’t get to see nearly enough!
The weekend festivities begin at approximately 3:30pm this afternoon, so once I hit ‘publish’ on this post, I have a couple more hours to spend walking the Lafayette reservoir and getting my nails done with my mom. But first! Friday’s are for Favorites, so let’s jump right in.
My dad’s “Top 1,000 Favorite Songs” playlist
My dad has managed to compile all of his favorite tunes, all 5,000 of them (the number grows every time I ask), on his ipod. I’ll admit, the playlist is pretty epic; it’s just banger after banger. The transition from Gary Jules’ Sad World into Toto’s Africa into Enya’s Sail Away was surprisingly flawless, but the song that really sealed the deal was Celine Dion’s cover of How Can I Get You Alone by Heart (above). Well played, Dad.
While I’ve been visiting with my family, Andrew has been busy on a work trip of his own. It’s been really nice to see his face each night, and I’m so grateful for video chat technology. We’ve used FaceTime before, but this trip we’ve been using Google Hangouts, which I like because of how seamlessly it’s integrated into GChat.
While I’m home, Traveler, my parents’ golden retriever, becomes my Kevin replacement. He does a decent job by prioritizing the same things: food and sleep, and human attention. (Thank you Sandy, for sending me updates and pictures of the real Kevins!)
