Happy Birthday To My Blog & WIAW #49

You guys!

Yesterday, June 16th, marked my blog’s one year anniversary. I can’t believe I missed my blog’s first birthday! I’m a terrible blog mom… err blom.

If you’re in the market for a laugh, check out my very first blog post here. I’m pleased to say the picture quality on this blog has come a long way in the past year. I seem to be eating all of the exact same things as I was a year ago, but at least you can see them more clearly now.

7:00pm – A glass of wine while catching up with our neighbor, Sandy. We also snacked on some chips and salsa that became the bulk of our dinner…

8:30pm – Summer farro salad

Last Sunday at the farmers’ market, Andrew and I saw that these tiny tomatoes had made their seasonal debut, so we bought a bunch. One thing led to another and… summer farro salad happened.


Later… Andrew and I split a chocolate kinder egg while watching TV, and the Kevins got a kick out of the toy inside. It was actually pretty cool; it was a flower berrette.

My Recipe For Ultimate Health & WIAW #48

Good morning, friends.

How is your week going so far? I’ve been feeling a little under the weather for the past couple of days. That’s what happens when you attempt a mega hike after a night of epic-dance-party-proportions. (It could also be allergies.)

I’m feeling much better today, though, after spending all of yesterday on the couch with Kevin, Kevin, and the Bachelorette. I didn’t move much, but I did manage to eat some good food. And with that inspired segue, I bring you this week’s edition of…


What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday 6/9/15


11:30am – Woke up and drank a ton of water.


12:30pm – I was craving something… grilled cheesy… but in an effort to speed up the recovery process, opted to fill my bowl with green things, as well as a scoop of tuna.

4:30pm – I always take hunger during sickness as a sign of returning health, so I rewarded my mid-afternoon hunger with a bowl of goat’s milk yogurt, sunflower seed butter, half a banana and a white peach. That peach was crazy good. Actually, the whole yogurt/sun butter/fruit bowl was really good. Try it.

According to our meal plan, last night’s dinner was supposed to be pan-seared rack of lamb with roasted potatoes and green beans. Wouldn’t that have been a beautiful meal to blog about! Unfortunately, lamb didn’t sound very appetizing, and grilled cheese sounded extremely appetizing, so…


8:00pm – Grilled cheese for dinner. With bacon for added nutrition feel goods. (As you can see, I take my hunger signals very seriously when I’m sick.) I also take grilled cheese bread very seriously, all the time. Sourdough all the way.

Like I said, I’m feeling much, much better today thanks to what I consider to be my proven recipe for reclaiming health: lots of sleep, lots of water, good (appetizing) food, and The Bachelorette.
